At their recent AGM, Newark's Seniors' Section voted to reduce the qualifying age from 60 to 55 years of age, bringing the Section into line with neighbouring Clubs. This should make the Newark team more competitive in their Inter-Club Seniors matches and also is the accepted age for most Senior open competitions.
The Section is very active and we have something for everyone – twice-weekly roll-ups, monthly Medals or Stablefords, Texas Scrambles and 30 matches against neighbouring clubs on some top courses - plus the friendliest group of golfers you could find anywhere. Our emphasis is on Social Golf - “Winning is not everything”.
The Section welcomes applications from existing Newark's Members who now qualify. Prospective new members should be mindful that the essence of being a member of the Seniors Section is:
- taking part regularly in the weekly activities (roll ups and competitions)
- assisting with our annual events e.g. the Halfway House, Seniors Opens, Charity Days etc
- sharing concern about the well-being of fellow Seniors.
- priority for selection for Inter Club matches, especially at the more prestigious clubs, is given to those who contribute to the above activities of the Seniors Section.
Further information regarding the Section and its Activities is available on the Club Website under Members / Seniors / Seniors Section a New Members Guide
