Thanks to everyone who took part in our Ryder Cup weekend, from the feedback I'm getting it was a huge success and needs to be a regular fixture. The competition was organized by the social Committee, and they are looking at putting on more team competitions, particularly during the winter months, with the emphasis on fun and socialising.
Upcoming competitions include the Captain's Charity day which will be for teams of 4, followed by the Captain v Vice Captain. This will be preceded by the longest drive Halliday Trophy on the 1st tee, it's not always the long hitters who win, straight is good, also there might be a narrow fairway around the 300 yard mark.
The Medal Finals are on Sunday the 5th when the qualifiers play for the Walter Hughes Cup, this is a prestigious club competition and is always taken seriously by the competitors, it's the last chance of glory.
Every November we hold the Company and Club AGMs, with Presentation Evening squeezed between. I shall try and get as many trophy sponsors as possible to present their trophies, it's important that we keep in contact with the names on the trophies even if it's a son of a son of a brother.
Finally we have an inexpensive away day on Friday at the Par 3 Nailcote Hall course. It is near Coventry, so it's easy to get to and Rob, who played in the British Par 3 Championship there a couple of years ago, rates it highly. It would be nice to get a few more members, or members friends going along.
