The ladies could not have hoped for a better day to play golf for the Spring Meeting. We would have been delighted with the weather had it been a July day with bright sunshine from start to finish. I even managed to burn my cheeks - no I did not have short shorts on, heaven forbid!
Another fantastic turnout, especially for the afternoon nine hole Waltz with 10 teams of three venturing out for the afternoon team match. Please see the pictures above of some of our deserved winners, kindly taken by Jo Jalland.
The course was in fantastic condition for the time of year - so thank you Graeme and team for presenting the course so well. A special thank you to our two gentlemen starters Mr Derek Lewis and Mr Brian Wass for setting us off at the right time and place. Your help is as always greatly appreciated.
The morning medal was extremely well supported with 49 ladies taking part. some of the ladies taking the day off work to joint in, and it is great to welcome you all. Many congratulations to all our worthy winners and a special congratulations to Tish Applewhite with a wonderful nett 70 and a well deserved cut to her handicap. The prize table looked amazing thanks to Kath Sharman who organised the wonderful tubs, planters and hanging baskets that formed the prizes for the day, it looked very impressive.
The tables for dinner were dressed for Spring with some beatuiful flower arrangements by Susan Harding. The locker room too had a "spring flower" make-over.
Matt, Nick, Karen and their teams provided us with yet another excellent meal with yet again a different menu choice, we are being totally spoilt!, so thank you one and all for all your hard work and excellent service on the day.
The day would not be complete without all the willing helpers, organised by Carol Maclachlan, such as all the ladies that baked wonderful cakes and savories for our halfway refreshment, and indeed the ladies who give so generously of their time to stand in the halfway house and serve us, it all makes the day special.
Josie Pepper did a fantastic job on the raffle, and those lucky enough to win a prize were delighted. This managed to raise approx £90 on the day. The committee ladies all worked hard behind the scenes doing everything from checking the cards and making sure they are all correct, to organising the prize winners lists, special thanks to Jo, Allison, Carole and Sandra.
All in all another excellent day, and it is credit to all you lady members that make this section what it is, making it a pleasure to be Ladies Captain.
