Ladies Autumn Meeting 26 September 2017

Tuesday 26th September was the Autumn Meeting for the ladies. Although the field had fewer ladies enter, we had a good day.

The weather, for a change decided to be kind to us. It remained pleasant most of the day, with just one small shower around lunch time.

The afternoon 9 hole competition was well supported.

We had a good prize table, thanks go to Josie and Hilary for buying the prizes, which this year had a travel theme.

The winner of the Andre Wilkinson Trophy and of the day was Eva Glasby.

Well done to all the ladies who won a prize on the day. I hope you all had an enjoyable day golfing.

Carole.

Ladies Invitation Day - 24 July 2017

Monday 24th July saw the Ladies Invitation Day. The day was overcast and cool, but remained dry.

We could have been mistaken that it was autumn not summer, again the weather did
not spoil the day

My thanks go to everybody who helped make the day a success, Sue Harding and
Margaret for buying the prizes, Sue Burns and Jo for doing the reception desk
and the half way house, and Jo for sorting the results out.

The Ladies' President Susan Harding for doing the flowers for the day. and to everybody else who
helped, thank you very much

We had prizes for 1st to 5th.

In 5th place were Di Jackson and C Glasby

4th were Rina Ozolins and Shirley

3rd were Sue Birkett and R Coulson

2nd were Trisha Applewhite and G Briggs.

1st were Megan Allen and C. Hall.

Nearest the pins were won by Di Jackson and Rita Stephenson. The best 9 out was
won by Rita Smalley and Linda Castledine on c/b and the best 9 in was won by
Rita Stephenson and E Norman.

An enjoyable day and we look forward to next year.

Ladies' Captain's Day 11 July 2017

It doesn't seem five minutes since I agreed to become vice captain and now my ladies captains day has been and gone. How the past two years have flown.

Yesterday started off wet and that was the theme of the day, but the ladies and
my gentlemen guests did not let this put them off. The weather certainly did
not dampen the day.

Thanks to my helpers in the half way house, I was able to spend some time with
the social ladies who came up at lunch time.

The rain became more persistent, as the day progressed, but nobody came in
early well done everybody.

I certainly enjoyed the day, and it went by very quickly, everything just
flowed, thankfully on the day without any problems.

My thanks go to everyone who helped out in any way to make it run so smoothly.
A big thank you to Jo and Alison for sorting the cards and prize winners out as
quickly as they did, never an easy job.

Thank you to Nick, Karen, Matt, and Jack and all of the catering staff for a
fantastic meal.

Well done to everybody who won. Well done to Miyako on winning the Ladies
Captains prize for the ladies, the rain certainly did not make any difference
to your game and to David Yarnell on winning the men's prize on the day.

A big thank you to all of you ladies for my cards and presents, and also the
text messages of good wishes. They are all gratefully received and thank you
for your support.

Carole

Ladies Exchange Day - Toft Golf Club - 20 June

This year we went to Toft Golf Club near Bourne.

We had a healthy field of ladies who came along to play a different course.   Who said that Lincolnshire was flat !! I think I found the only part that wasn't.   We started off with a misty day which turned into a lovely sunny day that was not too hot, which made it pleasant for playing. We also had beautiful views of the surrounding coutryside.

The course was slightly different to Newark, there were a few more gradients than we are used to and you certainly had to think your way around the course.

I think the day was enjoyed by everyone who went and we were certainly more appreciative of our own flat course once we had played.

The meal was excellent and enjoyed by everyone.

There were prizes for 1st to 7th and the overall winner was Caroll McLachlan.   Well done.
Here's looking forward to Josie's away day next year which will be at Mapperly Golf Club.
