Club Match Information from the Vice Captain

Gentlemen’s Club Team matches will begin next month, with the opening
fixture being a home match with Stoke Rockford Golf Club on Saturday 9th
March. Members who are available and wish to be considered for selection
are warmly invited to add their name to the team sheet that has been put
on the Noticeboard in the Men’s Changing Room. There is a further team
sheet for the home match with Blankney on Saturday 30th March. Team
sheets will be posted in the month preceding the matches in the next
month (i.e. team sheets for all April matches will go on the Noticeboard
on Friday 1st March) giving at least 4 weeks notice of a match. Teams
will be selected and notified on the website and in the Changing Room 7
days before the date of the match.

Most matches require a team of 6 pairs (12 golfers) and, as in previous
years, we will aim to select players who make themselves available for
both home and away matches. We intend to continue to offer brunch before
home team matches where we can rather than a post-match meal recognising
that a late finish on a Saturday evening is less popular with most
members. However, where there is a meal after the match, the Club’s
expectation is that those who play will attend the meal; if you know
that you will not be able to stay for post-match refreshment, please
leave your name off the team sheet.

Captain Howard and I are keen to encourage as many members as possible
to participate in Club Team matches. If you haven’t played before,
please think about playing: it’s a great way to play other courses and
to socialise with other members of the Club. If you would like to play
and want to find out more, please email me, send me a text or call me
and I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. Equally, if
you see either of us in the Clubhouse, feel free to come over and have a
chat with us.
