Last Saturday 16th January a 9am shotgun start saw the Celts take on the Sassenachs for the Mayfield & Howson Trophy.
The Vice-Captain David Yarnell was the Celts team Captain and The Captain lead the Sassenachs, playing 4BBB match play.
It was an enjoyable match on a dry and cold frosty morning so the hot soup waiting for us in the Clubhouse after the match was just what the players needed.
It was all smiles when the result was read out that after last year’s defeat the Sassenachs had won with a score of 11 to 6.
Many thanks to Past Captain Mr Morris Mayfield who presented the trophy to the victorious Captain.
This was followed by a Burns night celebration with excellent Scottish food, prepared by our Chef Matt, all accompanied by a Piper and Scottish dancer, and we ended the evening dancing to the excellent Lambskinnet band.
A fun packed evening enjoyed by everyone.
