St Georges Day Competition
Saturday's 6/6/6 team medal was once again a well supported event with lots of positive feedback. The traditional Bangers & Mash was a great success; well done to our catering team. Thanks to the Social Committee for organising the day and to Roy Williams who this year has supplied a trophy for the winning team which I was pleased to present to David Legge, Ian Gatfield and Trevor Eason who had a wonderful score of 129.
Presentation to Pat Mumby
This month, at age 89, Pat Mumby has been a member of the golf club for 75 years and in recognition of this fantastic achievement a presentation was made in the clubhouse today, 24th April. Pat joined the club as a junior in 1939 and was Club Captain in 1958. Pat's father Harold was President of the club from 1937 until 1949 and took the club through the very difficult war years; the HD Mumby Cup is a popular club competition. Pat won the Scratch Cup in 1974; he says this was his proudest moment in golf.
Today he was joined in the clubhouse by his family and friends and Past Captain's of Newark Golf Club.
