ACE FOR TIM

Congratulations to Tim Sheffield on his hole-in-one at the 17th on Seniors’ Captain’s Charity Day. The ensuing four points were not enough to threaten the leaderboard, headed by Stan Darby. Despite two blobs, Stan posted 40pts, two clear of Keith Alexander in second place. Sixty three Seniors took part and most bought raffle tickets at a fiver a strip, so the main fundraising effort for Beaumond House got off to a good start.

 BRUCE’S BEST

Bruce Perkins started July 5 as a 28 handicapper, but ended it playing off 24 thanks to ‘the best round of my life’ in the Old Boys Bowl.

Putting like a professional, and holding his cool over the closing holes, Bruce came in with 45pts. He scored no fewer than 26 on the allegedly more difficult front nine. Once again Keith Alexander had to be content with the runner-up spot, this time with 39pts.
