Winter League 2008/9

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

THE DECISION OF THE CAPTAIN SHALL BE FINAL.
The Competition Organiser is the Vice Captain.

LEAGUE FORMAT.
There are 5 leagues of 7 and 3 leagues of 8.  2 pairs from each league will qualify for the Knock Out stage.
The Competition is open to all male members and juniors.  Pairings may not be made up of 2 juniors.  All entrants must have played a minimum of FOUR Qualifying Competitions during the preceding season.  The maximum playing handicap allowed is 18.  Four-ball better ball; the back marker concedes strokes to the other 3 players based on 3/4 of the difference between handicaps.

ALL MATCHES ARE TO BE PLAYED OVER 18 HOLES & THE NUMBER OF HOLES UP RECORDED.
Points will be awarded as follows: Win 2 points; Half 1 point; Loss 0 points. Ties at the end of the Competition will be resolved on Holes-Up against Holes-Down, then their result against each other, then their result against the 1st qualifying pair.

ALL MATCHES MUST BE PLAYED BY THE GIVEN DATE.
All matches in the league format must be completed by 26th January 2009.  Failure to play the required number of matches by the nominated date without the approval of the Competitions Organiser will result in the disqualification of both pairs, their previous matches will be deleted and they will be barred from entry to the next Winter League Competition.

PLAY YOUR LEAGUE MATCHES SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.
All pairs are advised to try and complete as many matches as possible while the weather is good.

ALL PAIRS MUST BE AVAILABLE TO PLAY AT WEEKENDS
Matches may be played on any day of the week, all pairs must be available to play at weekends. 

PLEASE TRY TO AVOID PEAK TIMES i.e. 8 - 9am & 12 - 1pm.
Matches may commence at the 1st or 10th Tees

WINTER LEAGUE MATCHES HAVE NO PRIORITY
On the Tee or on the Course.

TEES
ALL matches including the knockout stage are to be played from the YELLOW tee markers.

ABSENT PLAYER
If only one player of a pair has to play for part or all of a match, handicap strokes for all three players shall be determined by the lowest player in the match even though he may be the absent player.

PLAY SCHEDULE
o All League fixtures must be completed by:  Monday 26th January.
o The Knockout stage will commence on:  Monday 2nd February.
o Last 16 Play Off completed by:  Monday 2nd March.
o Quarter Final Play Off completed by: Monday 16th March.
o Semi Final Play Off by:  Monday 30th March
o Final - By Arrangement with Captain .
