Wilkinson Cups

21st March 2014.
This weekend the Gentleman are competing for the Wilkinson Cups; these identical cups were presented by Percy and Ernest Wilkinson in 1935. They had a jewellers shop at 3 Church Street Newark. There is still a jewellery business there today, now called Martin Wilkinson's.  The competition has always been an 18 hole foursomes medal for men, this year, to stimulate a bit of interest, we are playing in a Greensome, Stableford format; so there should be some very good scoring.  Good luck to all competitors.

In a week or so, the over 50's will play for the Bentley Trophy and I will try and get Peter down to the club to present the trophy.  Peter donated this trophy to the club in 1993 and it is very well supported, we always get a full field for this competition.  If you qualify and you haven't entered yet, the sheet is in the spike bar.

I have started the Captain/Pro challenge, and I have 12 matches to pull in. Our first match against Kevin McGinley and Gary Boby was well contested with the challengers mounting a late fightback after dropping behind on the front nine. They ran out of steam on the 17th, going down 3&1. Rob as usual was Steady Eddie and closed the game out.

The Kelwick and Victory knockouts have been drawn and will be published in the next day or so, please get your matches played in good time.

The Winter knockout finals have yet to be arranged, I hope to get these done and dusted in the next few weeks.
