It is an honour to be invited to captain Newark Seniors for 2008 and I pay tribute to Peter Woodhall who set high standards during his excellent year as Captain in 2007. I am delighted to have as my Vice Captain, David Britton.

The Senior Section of Newark Golf Club was originally formed in 1976 with 12 members. Numbers have grown steadily and currently there are approximately 100 active playing members, who are regarded as a thriving part of the Golf Club. Senior members meet regularly on Monday and Thursday morning and enjoy keen, friendly golf and good fellowship.

During the year there is a  full programme of inter-club matches. Friendly relationships are enjoyed  between Newark and currently 13 other clubs in Notts and Lincs with home and away fixtures. We have two keen and friendly matches against the Newark Ladies.

Medal, Stableford, Eclectic, Texas Scramble and Knock-Out Competitions are played throughout the year and four quarterly meetings are held when lunch is enjoyed after a mornings golf.

Special dates for your diary include: Newark Seniors' Open, Thurs. 5th. June. - Hall of Fame Competition for Cancer Research, Mon. 16th. June  - Seniors' Charity Day in support of Beaumond House Hospice,

Thurs. 9th. October -  Seniors' AGM,  Mon. 29th September following immediately after the Texas Scramble,

Peter Adkins our Secretary will be pleased to receive items for inclusion on the Agenda before and up to

 Mon. 8th. Sept.   -  Seniors' Annual Dinner Dance, Fri. 17th. October.

David Britton and I look forward to helping to arrange with other volunteers enjoyable and successful events

during the year ahead.
