Rules effective from 1 January 2008 include:

•  A ball can be lifted in a Hazard (i.e. Water hazard or Bunker in order to be identified (Rule 12-1). (Pre 2008 rules state that you can not lift a ball in these circumstances). If you now play the wrong ball from a hazard it is a penalty (Stroke play 2 shots or DQ if not corrected before leaving the putting green, match play loss of hole). (See Rule 15-3 for full details).

• If your ball accidentally hits you it is now a 1 stoke penalty for both Stroke and Match Play (Rule 19-2). (Pre 2008 rules states a 2 shot penalty for stroke play and a loss of hole for match play)

These are the main changes. Other will be found in the new rule book which is now available in the Club House.
