We have attached to Newark Golf Club one of the country's top PGA Teaching & Playing Professionals, Peter Lockley. Peter has been at Newark for many years; following a successful amateur career, Peter turned Professional in 1990. During his training in the south of England he developed a flair for teaching and, on completion of his training was named PGA Trainee of the year.
On his appointment as the Head Professional at Royal Latem Golf Club in Belgium, the challenge of teaching with limited use of language helped develop the necessary skills all good teachers possess, which is to find different ways to communicate the information to the pupil. Peter felt that the volume of lessons he gave in that time gave him ten years worth of experience in the three years he was there.
More recently Peter has been appointed High Performance Manager of the Irish Ladies Golf Union, taking up his position at the beginning of November 2009. The Club wish Peter every success in this additional role which he will run alongside his current committments here at Newark. If you wish to read more details please follow this link. If you are new to golf don't be put off. You may wish to take part in one of our taster sessions which we are planning for 2010. Watch this space for more detail shortly.
