Ladies Spring Meeting - 25 April 2017

Ladies Spring Meeting Tuesday 25th April 2017.

We had a cold but bright sunny start to our Spring Meeting. There was a good field of ladies playing both in the morning and in the afternoon. The morning was a medal competition and the afternoon a waltz.

After about two hours the dark clouds and the rain and snow flurries arrived, but this did not put the ladies off their game. The rest of the day continued with rain/snow showers, a typical April day.

The prize table for the day were plants from Hollybeck Nurseries, as always they delivered a beautiful array of baskets and planters.

My thanks to Kath Sharman for organizing the prize table.

The winner of the Spring Trophy was Margaret Lewis with a score of Nett 70. Well done Margaret.
The winner for the bronze diversion was Erica Sansom 95-25=70. Well done Erica.

The afternoon waltz competition was won by D Britton/S. Pritchard/V. Siddons with a score of 35 points.

The winner of the putting competition was Linda Dunwoodie.
The winner of two's was Eva Glasby.

Well done to all of the ladies who played in the afternoon waltz as the weather was more of a winter feel than spring.

The day finished with a meal and presentation.

My thanks go to all of the ladies who helped behind the scenes to make the day go without any problems.

Ladies' Captain Drive-in, Match & Supper

Tuesday 14th March saw the Ladies' Captain's Drive in and the Captain v Vice Captain match afterwards.

The day was a lovely spring day, with the sun shinning. Thankfully the Drive-in went well. I managed to hit the majority of the golf balls somewhere down the 1st fairway.

Vice Captain Josie was unable to join us on the day but she assured me that she wished her team on from afar.

The afternoon remained fine and everyone appeared to enjoy their match. This was followed by a meal and the presentation of the winter trophies.

Congratulations to all who won.

The match between the Captain and the Vice Captain was close, it was won by the Captains team.

An enjoyable day.

Ladies Mince Pies and Wine

Good afternoon Ladies,

Tuesday 3rd January saw the first game of golf for the ladies for 2017. The day started out cold and frosty, but soon started to warm up a little, but turned into a pleasant day. We had 36 ladies who played in this game, and a hole in one was achieved by Jo Jalland, well done Jo. After the game we had mince pies and wine, there was also a coffee station for those ladies that do not drink wine all supplied by Nick, Karen and the team. These were enjoyed by everyone, and marked the start of 2017.

Just a reminder Ladies, please check your starting times as these are now 8 minutes apart instead of 10. Also could I ask you to check the notice boards in the Clubhouse for the social events coming up.

28th January is Burn's Night, a fun and very enjoyable evening. This is followed on the 10th February by the Ladies Evening, again a really enjoyable event for you and your friends. Please see the table plan on the ladies notice board, or contact myself or Sandra Goodwin. Happy golfing in 2017. Carole

Ladies Christmas Lunch

Tuesday 13th December saw the traditional Christmas lunch. This was attended by 62 ladies, including social ladies, associate ladies and our five day and full members, it was lovely to see so many ladies together.

After the lunch we were entertained by The Story Tellers from Southwell Workhouse.
I am not sure that everybody knew what to expect from the story tellers, but each one of us enjoyed the stories related from times gone by.
A very enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
