Ladies' Captain Drive-in, Match & Supper

Tuesday 14th March saw the Ladies' Captain's Drive in and the Captain v Vice Captain match afterwards.

The day was a lovely spring day, with the sun shinning. Thankfully the Drive-in went well. I managed to hit the majority of the golf balls somewhere down the 1st fairway.

Vice Captain Josie was unable to join us on the day but she assured me that she wished her team on from afar.

The afternoon remained fine and everyone appeared to enjoy their match. This was followed by a meal and the presentation of the winter trophies.

Congratulations to all who won.

The match between the Captain and the Vice Captain was close, it was won by the Captains team.

An enjoyable day.

Ladies Mince Pies and Wine

Good afternoon Ladies,

Tuesday 3rd January saw the first game of golf for the ladies for 2017. The day started out cold and frosty, but soon started to warm up a little, but turned into a pleasant day. We had 36 ladies who played in this game, and a hole in one was achieved by Jo Jalland, well done Jo. After the game we had mince pies and wine, there was also a coffee station for those ladies that do not drink wine all supplied by Nick, Karen and the team. These were enjoyed by everyone, and marked the start of 2017.

Just a reminder Ladies, please check your starting times as these are now 8 minutes apart instead of 10. Also could I ask you to check the notice boards in the Clubhouse for the social events coming up.

28th January is Burn's Night, a fun and very enjoyable evening. This is followed on the 10th February by the Ladies Evening, again a really enjoyable event for you and your friends. Please see the table plan on the ladies notice board, or contact myself or Sandra Goodwin. Happy golfing in 2017. Carole

Ladies Christmas Lunch

Tuesday 13th December saw the traditional Christmas lunch. This was attended by 62 ladies, including social ladies, associate ladies and our five day and full members, it was lovely to see so many ladies together.

After the lunch we were entertained by The Story Tellers from Southwell Workhouse.
I am not sure that everybody knew what to expect from the story tellers, but each one of us enjoyed the stories related from times gone by.
A very enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

Ladies Captains' Hand-over

Well,

Where did that year go??  I cannot believe that it is nearly the end of November.  Time to post my last notice and hand over to Carole!

I hope you have enjoyed reading the large amount of activities posted on the Ladies Notice Board this year.  It certainly has proved a valuable asset for a quick catch up on what has been happening over the last 12 months for members past and present, and certainly made my "recap of the year in bulletin form"  at the AGM quite easy to do.

I would like to wish Ladies Captain Carole all the best for 2017.  I am sure she will throw everything at it, with the commitment and dedication it deserves.  While I am mentioning 2017, I would like to wish Josie best wishes, and thank her sincerely for the selfless act of putting herself forward again!  You deserve to have total commitment from the Ladies Section, and I am sure that will too be forthcoming for all of the new Committee.  My personal good wishes to all.

Delighted to share with you all the "hand-over" pictures - thanks Jo for sorting!

I look forward to 2017 and hope to fairly represent ALL of the golf club members as I join our Board of Directors.

Here's to good health, happiness and low handicaps for 2017!

Ladies' & Seniors' AM AM

Tuesday saw the Ladies versus Seniors Am Am take place on a day when you could hardly see one hand in front of you!  The fog seemed to come in and out for most of the day, but off we went with the Ladies and Seniors Captains and Vice Captains "leading the way" .  It wasn't a case of what coloured flag it was - it was where is the green!  As we set off at 8,30, and for the field leaders the fog stayed for nearly the whole round, with the first glimmer of sunshine at the 17th, well that is our excuse for our 73 points, which, all things considered we though was reasonable, until we started marking the cards.

This is the favourite ladies v seniors outing, and it made a change for the ladies to be chasing the seniors for MORE PLAYERS PLEASE!  64 in total played, so a fantastic turn out.  A special thank you to Caroll McLachlan for sorting out the half way house.  A cup of tea and cake was indeed very welcome, warming us up before we set off on the back nine - still in the fog.

It must be the day for thank you's.  The "snack" meal after the round supplied by the ladies proved to be a substantial dinner.  The jacket potatoes and salad were enhanced by chilli, vegetable curry, beef curry, chicken curry and beans.  I think some of the players tried to get some of everything on their plates, I have seen smaller mountains!!  Fantastic Nick thank you so much for "upgrading" this for us.  It was very much appreciated.

Finally a huge congratulations to the winners on the day.  The scores were amazing, in fact I thought they may well have added all four players scores in they were that good - especially considering the weather, so well done.   Scoring 90 points and in first place were R. LLoyd, S. Cartwright, K. Russell and C. Ward.  A creditable 86 points brought D. Jackson, L. Holland, M. Paulson and D. Squires second place.  Thank you to the seniors for the prizes.

Thank you to Mike, James and Carole for a great day, and hopefully the Spring get together will be as well supported.
