We struck lucky with The Old Course daily ballot on a recent golfing trip to Fife.  Although which verity of luck

Newark GC travelled to Beeston Fields and returned with one point after a drawn match at 21/2 games each. Newark was able to maintain the gap between themselves and the second bottom club.

In the second series of matches in the competition, Newark GC visited Mapperley GC, who was looking for their first points in their first home fixture.

Fifty-nine pairs entered the eight leagues with sixteen pairs eventually contesting the knockout rounds. An exciting final to the 2008/9 Winter League was won by Richard Sperke and Jim Lee, with a one up score-line result.

Newark took three points from a home fixture in the first series of matches by beating Radcliffe on Trent GC with a 3-2 score-line. Last season Radcliffe [14 points at 201/2 to 191/2] finished in a very comfortable fourth position.
