Gentlemen: Interclub Scratch League v Beeston Fields.

Tim Cooke took the half point. Dave Britten and team captain, John Cooke jun were unable to win. Cooke was foiled by an opponents’ chip into the hole upon the last green, and the chance of three table points disappeared. Cooke reflected that after consideration of the play of the match this had been an opportu
nity lost. Tee to green was well contested by Newark but knowledge of the putting surfaces gave the impetus to the home side when the ball was on/around the greens. One reoccurring disadvantage for Newark at away venues is the lack of knowledge of fast, sloping greens.
