Gentlemen: June Mid-Week Medal.

Division 1: Won after countback by Reg Dove [nett 69] who  pipped John E Cooke jnr [nett 69 and lowest gross of 70] into second place. Third was Joe Marum [nett 71] on  countback, edging  Keith  Whitfield [nett 71] into fourth place..

Division 2: First was Colin Dixon [nett 70] ahead of Philip Underwood [nett 71] and Neil Pepper [nett 72].

Division 3: Roy Williams [nett 69] was first ahead of  Brian Jeffrey [nett 71]. Third after countback was David Birkett [nett 72 ] with  Mervyn Parr [nett 72] in fourth spot.

Gentlemen: Weekend Medal / Centenary Quaich Qualifier.

The Centenary Quaich Competition is open to golf clubs in Notts which have reached their centenary year.  The two players with the best gross / nett scores in the June Week-End Medal will represent Newark. The competition will be held at Sherwood Forest Golf Club on Sat 26th July. The aggregate score of the two representatives determine the winner of the Quaich, which is held for a year.

Division 1: 1 -  Duncan Martin [nett 68]; 2 -  Keith Bennett [nett 70]; 3 -  Keith Whitfield [nett 71].

Division 2: 1 -  Kevin Ward [nett 66 countback] ; 2 - John B Blagg snr [nett 66 cb] ; 3 - Alex  Whitfield [nett 67];  4 - Gary Hales [nett 69 cb] from Clive Henfrey [nett 69] and Richard Pike [nett 69].

Division 3: 1 -  Michael Gamage [nett 70];  2 -  Michael Hosegood  [nett 71];  3 - Kevin Black [nett 72].

Jim Hallam [gross 72] and Kevin Ward [nett 66] are the Quaich qualifiers.

Tthere are 8 clubs in the NUGC who compete for the Quaich: Notts ; Bulwell Forest,; Serlby Park;  Mapperley;  Chillwell Manor;  Sherwood Forest;  Stanton on the Wolds and Newark.

Gentlemen: Captains Exchange Day.

Newark GC visited Peterborough Milton upon Captains Exchange Day. Winners of the team stableford were John Jalland, John Turner and Bob Burns. Prize-winning results  in the individual stableford were: 1 - Keith Toon [38 pts]; 2 - Dave Collingwood [37 pts]; 3 - Trevor Easson [36 pts]; 4 - Bob Burns [33 pts]; 5 - Andy Clarke [32 pts]; 6 -  Maurice Mayfield [31pt]s.

Gentlemen: Victor Ludorum.

Points are awarded to players who have obtained good scores in selected important competitions.  The aim is to reward players who have maintained a consistently high standard of golf playing to their handicap, throughout the season. A half way update of the results so far is: 1 - John E Cooke [25 pts]; 2 - David Howson [24 pts]; 3 - Kevin Ward [21pts]; 4 - Jim Hallam [20 pts].

Ladies: Stableford Cup.

The Ladies Stableford Cup was held within the June Stableford. In the perfect playing conditions the competition was close, Alison Hartley winning Division 1 with 37 points after a countback.  Division 2 - Jean Cooke [34 pts]. Division 3 - Laura Anderson [37 pts].

Ladies: Silver League v Radcliffe.

In the Ladies Silver League, a hard fought draw at Radcliffe GC was secured by, Jane Tucker, Sandy Pearson, Brenda Bradbury, Brenda Wood, Barbara Sale, Kath Sharman and the Captain, Jill Pearce. Newly promoted this year the ladies were delighted with the result, feeling that the rub of the green upon the 18th was not in their favour.

Juniors: Junior Cup.

John B Blagg jnr won the Junior Cup on Saturday with a nett 63. The juniors had the worst of the high gusting winds upon that day and did well to post good scores.

2- Ben Partridge [nett 67]; 3-Tom Chrysanthou [nett 68]; 4-Sash Mirhadi [nett 69 and best gross of 74]; 5 - Freddie Skelton [nett 69]; 6 -Daniel Yates [nett 70]; 7-Alexandre Hales [nett 71].
