EVA GLASBY

Gentlemen: Interclub Foursomes v Worksop GC.

The first pair off the tee took one shot off the handicap with them. Jim Hallam and Simon Collingwood were in good form and proceeded to rollout a convincing win on what turned out to be a chilly, windy night. John and Tim Cooke also received a shot but could not find any consistency or luck of any form through the match. They were mostly putting for halves and missing while the Worksop pairing was sinking the putts to win the holes. The match ended overall at 2Down for Newark.

Mixed: Interclub Foursomes v Ramsdale GC

The first pairing of Jim Hallam and Emma Sheffield had to give ten shots to the opposition. The inform Hallam, coming off the back of a good win in the men’s foursomes combined well with Sheffield and they produced a convincing and comfortable win at 8UP. Alex Clarricoates and Eva Glasby were the second pairing off the tee and they were giving one shot. They departed the newly improved twelfth hole with an irking and troublesome 1DN score-line. The pair won all of the remaining holes for a 5UP win in their game. Winning the match with a healthy 13UP score-line, Newark will be away to Beeston Fields GCin the next round of the competition.

The Team Medal Competition.

The Team Medal Competition was closely contested and the outcome resolved by count-back. Winners with a net score of 127 were Jason Robinson, John Brambles and Roy Williams. Pipped into second place were Neil Pepper, Paul Bullard and Jason Wood [net 127]. Neil Allen, Wayne Joslin and Colin Dixon returned net 129 for third spot.

Saint Georges’ Day Team Competition.

The Saint Georges’ Day Team Competition saw a convincing win, with five points separating first from second. Seniors Captain, Howard Lockwood with  Keith Russell teamed up with Mark Washington and Ricky Priestly to win with 98 points. Neil Gray, Keith Whitfield, Russ Ashmore and Steve Flemming scored 93 pts for second. Gary Hales, Jim Welsh, Kevin Ferguson and David Welsh were third with 90 pts.

Spring Mixed Greensomes Trophy

The very popular and evergreen Spring Mixed GreensomesTrophy went to an inform Bob Burns [third place in the Bentley Trophy] and Di Allen with a score of 39 pts. One point put them ahead of the chasing pack, just pipping Mick Sheard and Sue Burns [38 pts] into second place. Reg Dove and Margaret Stark were third with 35 pts.

Winter League Final

After four league matches and four knock-out rounds, Alistair Bell and Steve Fosh beat Simon and David Collingwood 2UP in the Final.
