Gentlemen: Charity Day.
Newark Golf Club held a Charity Day Competition in aid of Beaumond House Community Hospice. There was a full field of 200, in 50 teams of any mixed combination. Heavy rainfall throughout the preceding night, threatened the survival of the event. However, with the supportive attitude and exemplary efforts of the green-staff, the schedule of the day went ahead as planned. The event, organised by Noel Maguire, was regarded as being exceptionally successful, raising a total of £2725 for the hospice.

Newark GC expresses gratitude to everyone involved, who were so benevolent in support of the hospice.
Gentlemen: Coronation Cup.
There was a field of 116 for the Coronation Cup. Presented anonymously in 1902, approximately one year after the establishment of the Club at the links of Hawton Road. It is the Club's oldest trophy and commemorates the Coronation of King Edward VII
In a tight contest the winner was Adam Woolley [nett 65]. The competition for the following places was fierce and 6 players completed in nett 68, with places decided by countback; 2 - John E Blagg; 3 - Kevin Ward; 4 - Keith Marsden. Richard Sperke, Kevin Ferguson and Jim Hallam, who recorded the lowest gross of 69, were just squeezed out of the places.
