Gentlemen: Bentley Trophy

The Bentley Trophy is a competition played through 27 holes for members over 50 years of age.  This year the competition was played in very windy conditions.  First place went to Kevin Kilcoyne with an extremely good score of 53 points.  In second place was Graeme Macdonald with a score of 50 points. The Over 70's prize, was won by David Crockett. The four Nearest the Pin prizes at the par threes, went to Graeme Macdonald, Peter Johnson, Paul Skelton and David Hood respectively.

GILLIAN LYON

Ladies: The Spring Meeting Competition.

Gillian Lyon won the medal competition with a net 68, two shots ahead of second placed Ann White [net 70] and third placed Jan Charlton [net 71]. From an early morning, two tee starting time, Lyon drove off, onto the back nine of the course, and returned a five over par gross 40. This was the score-line that set up the opportunity for a win in the competition. Lyon had to draw deep to return a reasonable score upon the punitive front nine to stay ahead of the pack. Playing with Frances Crockett [the then Ladies Captain and donator of the Trophy in 1994] and Nan Cheshire, gave fortitude to Lyon through this section of the course. Struggling through these holes Lyon finally emerged as the lowest net score, to put the Waterford Crystal Trophy into the display cabinet.
