Club Report 13

24-Aug-2008 : Club Report 13

Gentlemen: Notts Interclub Scratch League / Bye.

With one match remaining, Newark has been promoted to Division 1 of the Notts Interclub Scratch League. An immediate return to the top division was the primary objective of the 2008 season. The objective has been attained, with Newark lying three points ahead of Bulwell Forest, who have completed their program, and five points ahead of Ramsdale Pk. The rival promotion challenge of Ramsdale Park was terminated by defeat in this round of matches, leaving Newark in an unassailable second place position. Receiving a bye in the seventh round of the competition, Newark now lie two points behind new league leaders, Mapperley. Fortunately, the championship is not yet over and Newark now have destiny placed in their grasp. Newark can still be promoted as champions, requiring a win in the final fixture of the campaign. The last match is now a ‘high noon shootout' at Mapperley GC upon Sept 8th [4pm]. Supporter's requisite and welcome.
