Gentlemen: Scratch Cup.
For handicap range 0-9 and played over two medal rounds with gross scores. 2007 winner Jim Hallam made it two in a row with his fifth success in the Club Championships Scratch Cup. Hallam returned 71 + 74 = 145 to win from: 2 - Tim Cooke 72 + 74 = 146; 3 - John E Cooke jnr 71 + 75 = 146. Qualifiers from the top 8 for the Hallam Cup [knockout matchplay] are: Roger Nicholson [154]; Charles Paley [154]; David Britten [154]; Sash Mirhadi [157]; and John E Cooke snr [158].
Gentlemen: Averham Trophy.
For handicap range 10-18 and played over two medal rounds with nett scores:
1- Adam Woolley 82 + 78 = nett 160; 2- David Skaith 80 + 85 = nett 165; 3- Stephen Tur 78 + 87 = nett 165. Gentlemen: Macrae Trophy.
For handicap range 19-28, over one medal round with a nett score. Won outright after 3 victories by Stuart Macrae, who helped to introduce golf to Newark in the 1890's and was a founder member of the club. The trophy was returned to the club in 1927 and has been played for in this format since then. 1- Alex Berry [nett 64]; 2- Chrysanthos Chrysanthou [nett 69 cb] ; 3- John B Blagg jnr [nett 69 cb] .

55 junior golfers gathered at Newark Golf Club for this years Junior Open event. This included the Daily Telegraph qualifier for the Junior Golf Championship 08 to be held at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in November. Over half of the field were Newark GC members.

From this competition, Lee Shepherd [lowest gross of 73] of Sherwood Forest GC and Laura Hill [gross 89] of Newark GC are potential entrants to the Daily Telegraph Final.
Juniors: Interclub League v Kilton Forest.
Juniors won the match against Kilton Forest 4.5 to 1.5. Team: Sash Mirhadi; Adam Woolley; Josh Stitson; Ben Partridge; Tom Chrysanthou; Danny Yates. With two matches to play Newark juniors could win promotion with a win at Stanton on the Wolds next month.

In 1996, Padraig Harrington, an up and coming tour professional, frequented Newark Golf Club to improve his game. He received coaching from Howard Bennett, the father of Tony Bennett, Newark GC's Professional at that time. A quote from an article in Golf Today says: "Padraig took precaution of completing his accountancy studies before turning professional after an outstanding amateur career including three Walker Cup appearances. At time of move to the pro ranks he was coached by Howard Bennett at the Newark Golf Club, Notts, guided by sport psychologist Dr Aiden Moran and physical fitness expert Helen Leman and abetted on-course with John O'Reilly, one of Ireland's most experienced caddies."
