The Christmas Lunch on December 16th was attended by 60 ladies who enjoyed a traditional Christmas meal interspersed with not so traditional, seasonal entertainments. As my first official event, I was delighted with the response to my Christmas Fancy Hat Competition. The ingenuity of those who entered was outstanding with decorated visors, straw hats, woolly hats, baubles, tinsel, lights (some flashing!) and even a Door wreath. After a parade, the Judges - Ladies' President Denise, Vice Captain Rina and myself, had a difficult job but finally chose the 3 winners. Edith Pacey's hand knitted 3D hat being the voted the best winning her a National Trust Christmas pudding which I hope she enjoyed. The runner up prize was won by Linda Fearn with her Wreath hat and third prize was won by Josie Pepper with a beautifully decorated straw hat. There was also a 'stand up Bingo' game which was won by Rosemary Lloyd who was presented with a bottle of sparkling Prosecco
The Christmas Fayre winners were also presented with their prizes. They were:
Silver Division Bronze Division
1st Sue Bean 1st Miyako Williams
2nd Sue Birkett 2nd Jill Todd
3rd Sue Burns 3rd Tracy Ferguson
4th Nan Cheshire
EG Medal Winner Linda Dunwoodie
Next up was the January Medal followed by Wine and Mince Pies. It was lovely to see so many Ladies there, present and past members taking the opportunity to catch up after the Christmas break.
Eighty-one Ladies attended the Ladies' Evening on the 30th January and were well entertained by the amazing Magician, Brian Hellyer and by Comedian and singer, Tony Rutherford. Dancing continued till gone eleven when carriages arrived to transport the weary revellers home.
