Captain's Update

Silly season is almost upon us with competitions coming thick and fast.  This month we have the first 2 monthly medals and I sincerely hope that the Club Systems score entry is working properly by then.

My apologies to those of you who played in the Bentley Trophy; the actual competition was reduced to 18 holes due to misunderstandings in the morning but congratulations to Alan Maidlow who won with 39 points; Robbo had a best gross of 30 points.  We also gave prizes for the morning round, but it was declared a non-qualifier. Graeme MacDonald with 22 points won a dozen golf balls for his efforts. I would like to say a special thank you to Peter Bentley; it was nice to see him in the clubhouse, and his usual generosity with prizes was very well received.

Next Monday 14th, our Gents foursomes teams are playing Trent Lock at Stanton on the Wolds, tee off is at 4pm. Our teams are Alex Clarricoates with Charlie Bentley, and Ian Gill with Anthony Wagstaff. I’m sure they would welcome your support.  The scratch team get their season started on Monday 28th away to Sherwood, this will be one to watch. Tee off is at 4pm, we need plenty of support for the strongest squad we have ever had.  Please come along and encourage the team.

The two winter league finals are also being played this month, the younger John Blaggs' are playing the two Howards, Jones and Roberts, on Friday 11th at 2.00pm in the Winter Trophy Pairs Knockout.  David Legge and Ian Gatfield take on Peter Snow and Tony Glasby on Easter Sunday at 10.00am in the Plate Final.  Again spectators and supporters are most welcome.

The mixed team matches, all friendlies, get under way this month against Seacroft  and Blankney, both away matches.  On Monday 21st the Seniors are playing the Juniors; always a well anticipated event.  This was a great success last year, and I know it will be again this year.

We currently have a few membership availabilities; this year we have been struck by a series of illness and injury with many of our members undergoing operations and transferring to social membership until they can get back to their golf.  We wish them well and a speedy recovery.  In the meantime if any of your friends or colleagues are interested please get them to complete the Online Application Form and we will be in touch.  More updates later.  Enjoy your golf.
