Gentlemen: The Walter Hughes Medal Finals.
Winner of the finals was Sean McGinney from Division Three, returning a nett 66 and pipping Junior Captain, Adam Woolley [Division One] upon count-back. Leading Results [nett] are as follows. Division One: 1- Adam Woolley 66; 2- Joe Andrade 67 cb; 3- Alex Claricoates 67 cb and the lowest gross score of 71 from the 144 entries. Division Two: 1- Brian Jeffrey 69 cb; 2- David Cumberland 69 cb; 3- Tom Ashmore 70. Division Three: 1- Sean McGinney 66; 2-Michael Gammage 72; 3- Colin Croom 73.

Junior member, Tom Ablewhite claimed his second trophy of the season to win the Victory Cup, the mixed singles KO. This cup was given in 1919, by H A D Cherry-Downes, to commemorate the end of the First World War.
Stuart Rigley and Paul Blackburn were the winners of the Kelwick Cups, the Gentlemen’s Pairs KO.
Graham Cobb and Di Allen won the Charnwood Trophy for mixed pairs.
The Howett Cup was won by junior member, Ben Sheard who qualified for the competition due to his winning of the Sean O’Grady Trophy.
The Barnby Plate KO for mid-handicappers was won by Neil Hill.
The Hallam Cup [top eight of the Scratch Cup qualifiers] was won by Jim Hallam. He recorded his fourth win in a row and a ninth win in the competition overall.
Mixed: Club Captains Charity Day.
The club presented a cheque for £5000 in support of Alzheimers and Dementia following the completion of the Charity Day Competition. One third goes to the local Alzheimer's Café and attached support group which is held in the Holy Trinity Community & Partnership Centre on Boundary Road. Two thirds will go to assist with research. Club Captain, Barre Ramsbottom, emptied the Charity bottle, and there will be a further £600 - £700 of donations, from this source. Couple this with the Club Charity Day organised by Noel Maguire and the Club will have raised well over £8000 towards Charity this year.
Winner of the Charity Day Competition with 38 stableford points, was Ben Hazzledine. Other prize winners from the Gentlemen were: 2-Tim Middleton 37 ; 3- Sean Maclachlan 36; 4-Stuart Rigley 35 cb; 5- Malcolm Wood 35 cb; 6- Fred Bower 35 cb; 7- Paul Blackburn 35 cb; 8- Keith Whitfield 35 cb; 8- Matthew Trueblood 35 cb. Best gross score was Tim Middleton. Longest drive was Tom Ablewhite. From the Ladies: 1- Margaret Lewis; 2- Brenda Wood; 3- Josie Wake; 4- Jane Tucker. Best gross score was Cindy Thorpe. Longest drive was Janet Horner. Nearest the pins: 2nd - Malcolm Wood; 5th - George Hindson; 15th -Paul Ackroyd; 17th - Josie Wake. Closest to the 18th in two -Wayne Joslin. Best Junior- John Blagg. Best Senior- John Blagg.

Alwyn Lyon and Anne Scothern scored 41 points to edge ahead of second placed, Reg Dove and Margaret Allen [40 pts cb] and third placed competitors Mick Sheard and Sue Burns [40 pts cb]. Lyon and Scothern managed to keep the ball under the wind and onto the greens to produce an incident free round. Lyon missed a brace of 18 inch tap-ins, which could have pushed the score higher but a solid par at eighteen was enough to see them edge ahead of the opposition.
Ladies: Malcolm Lambert Trophy.
This bogey competition played was won by Ladies Captain, Olive Spouge [+3 to the course]. Other leading results: 2- Rosemary Lloyd +2 cb; 3- Dorothy Britton +2 cb.
Ladies: Autumn Meeting.
Leading nett scores of the 59 competitors were: 1- Janet Horner 80; 2- Jane Tucker 82 cb; 3- Linda Castledine 82 cb; 4- Brenda Wood 83.
Ladies: Medal.
Nett scores were as follows. Division One: 1-Jane Tucker 69 and the lowest gross score of 77; 2- Linda Castledine 70 cb; 3- Brenda Wood 70 cb. Division Two: 1- Josie Pepper 71; 2- Denise Clark 73; 3- Gillian Lyon 74 cb. Division Three: 1-Pat Wilson 76; 2- Marjorie Palmer 80; 3- Sandra Goodwin 80.
Seniors: Medal Finals.
Nett scores were as follows: 1- Ronald Lawson 66 cb and the lowest gross score of 76; 2- Colin Croom 66 cb; 3-Ken Haslam 68.
Seniors: Autumn Meeting.
Winner of the stableford competition was John Lucey [41 points cb], the vice captain of the seniors. Second on countback with 41 points was Derrick Lewis. Peter Bartlett [40 pts] and Roger Swain [39 pts] were third and fourth respectively, from the fifty-three entries.
Juniors: Two Bobs Trophy.
Daniel Oliver won the trophy with a nett 66. Other scores were: 2- Thomas Chrysanthou 69; 3- Ben Sheard 70; 4- Daniel Yates 71 cb; 5- Adam Woolley 71 and the lowest gross score of 77.
Juniors: Grant and Green Trophy.
Tom Briggs-Price won the trophy with a nett 69 via count-back shading ahead of two trophy winner Ben Sheard who returned the lowest gross score of 77. Briggs-Price has shown consistent form throughout the season in both the junior and club competitions. Hence, as the season came to an end he was the winner of the highly regarded Victor Ludorum Trophy.
Juniors: Victor Ludorum.
This was won by Daniel Yates and he was helped on his way with a win in the Junior Cup.

England's Peter Lockley has been appointed High Performance Manager of the Irish Ladies Golf Union and will officially take up his position later this month.
Lockley, who has worked with the Belgium girl's squad, is currently the Head Professional at Newark Golf Club and since 2007 has been Lead County Coach for Nottinghamshire working closely with elite golfers at all levels of the game.
He has a comprehensive knowledge of the key elements of High Performance and Development programmes and is held in high regard by fellow coaches and players. He has a proven track record in the area of High Performance and his strong work ethic and amicable personality has seen him achieve notable results with low amateur and professional players. He currently runs his own Academy and has recently designed and delivered coaching schools for young children at the Lee Westwood Academy.
On confirmation of his appointment, Lockley commented “This is a very exciting opportunity and with the ILGU achieving European success at junior level recently I am looking forward to establishing systems to build on that success.“
Chief Executive Sinead Heraty commented “We have high ambitions for our national teams and to achieve our goals High Performance needs a dedicated Manager. I believe Peter's experience will introduce programmes to ensure our coaches have a constant pipeline of talent at their disposal”.
Lockley will take up the High Performance reigns in late October and will firstly meet the players and District coaches to devise a Winter Coaching Programme ahead of next summer's busy schedule of tournaments.
